Finding Your Way Transitional Housing Guidelines now in effect

The AHO’s Finding Your Way Transitional Housing Guidelines have been introduced today 6 September 2024.

The guidelines establish the standards and expectations for Aboriginal Community Housing Providers (ACHPs) in managing and providing transitional housing to Aboriginal people. These guidelines ensure a consistent and culturally appropriate approach to guarantee the program's long-term viability.

Finding Your Way Transitional Housing Guidelines

These guidelines are in place to help Aboriginal Community Housing Providers (ACHPs) understand standards and expectations for delivering transitional housing to Aboriginal people. These guidelines provide a consistent approach that is culturally appropriate and fit-for-purpose to ensure the long-term viability of the program.

Tenant programs

There are a number of tenant programs underway at the Aboriginal Housing Office. These programs work with Aboriginal tenants to achieve better outcomes in housing and beyond. 

Tertiary Accommodation Grants

Key information 

A grant available to help Aboriginal students with their living costs while at TAFE or university. By helping them overcome barriers that might get in the way of studying or applying to study, this grant aims to improve retention rates of existing students and increase enrolment of aspiring students.

Grant amount: up to $10,000

SFSC Phase Two Implementation Plan

Strong Family, Strong Communities Strong Family, Strong Communities (SFSC) is the AHO’s 10-year strategy to improve the well-being of NSW Aboriginal families and communities through housing.

To deliver on this goal, the strategy is framed around four key pillars - Housing Solutions, Client Outcomes, Growing the Sector and Data and Evidence.

Client Experience Initiative (CEI) funding

Key information  

Status: open

Grant amount: up to $150K  

A grant awarded to one Aboriginal organisation to address a social need in the areas of health, justice, education or employment in their community. Social needs include connection to Country and community, wellbeing, self-esteem and availability of appropriate services. 

Eligibility  

To be eligible for the grant, you must be able to show that your organisation:

SII factsheet

Factsheet explaining the transition from the High Cost Community Support Payment (HCCSP) to the Sustainability and Investment Initiative (SII).

Renaming phase two of the HCCSP project to the SII reflects a focus on providing sustainable subsidy to the Aboriginal Community Housing ACHP sector.
