The 2025 Client Experience Initiative (CEI) grant program is now open!
The grant offers Aboriginal organisations up to $150,000 to design a solution for their community. The successful applicant will co-design with their community to create positive outcomes.
The solution must plan to deliver and sustain a service that supports the community in areas like physical and mental health, education, employment and wellbeing.
Eligible organisations can apply using Smarty Grants.
Applications open on Monday 14 April 2025 and close Friday 23 May 2025.
What’s involved
After being selected, the successful applicant must:
- engage an Aboriginal co-design consultant
- conduct extensive consultation with community and relevant organisations
- produce a business plan (including a project logic and project matrix plan) for their project.
CEI funded program "Ignite Art" boosts wellbeing
Bundjalung Tribal Society (BTS) ran "Ignite Art" in 2024 using their CEI funding. Designed with community, the program helped boost wellbeing, confidence and connection among participants.
BTS also created a business plan that allowed the program to continue even after funding ran out.
Be Westbrook, Bundjalung Tribal Society Co-ordinator explained how important Ignite Art was for the community:
"When you walk into a community that is broken, there is no way for you to actually form a connection within that community. It is up to community to form that connection themselves. So offering a space that is open, engaging, fun, connected to who they are, creates a space where you can actually grow that community.
Communities don't just happen. It takes work, it takes commitment. It takes a space that has the right energy and offers what people need."
