ACHPs came together from all over NSW this week at the Sector Visioning Workshop (SVW) in Coffs Harbour to collaborate and shift the dial for the Aboriginal housing sector.
This was the fourth event held as part of the SVW series, developed as the primary communication vehicle for the Sector Reform Steering Committee (SRSC) to collaborate with the Aboriginal Social Housing Sector on reform outcomes and initiatives. Culture was at the centre with a Welcome to Country and cultural performance by Jalay Jalay Dance Troup that had everyone up doing the Pipi dance.
This year’s theme focused on the Top 10 priorities, which were brain stormed and will contribute to the drafting of a Sector Investment Plan that NSWALC, AHO and ACHIA are working on. The event provided an opportunity for providers to learn about key projects that AHO are delivering and timely information regarding the Housing Australia Future Fund (HAFF), National Housing Accord Facility (NHAF), National Housing Infrastructure Fund (NHIF) from Housing Australia as well as great sessions from ACHP’s and Rebecca Pinkstone from Bridge Housing.
To compliment the two day event, MC Kevin Kropinyeri was absolutely great in facilitating adding a touch of humour to some very heavy and complex issues and discussions. The Sector Development team - Housing Client Services did an amazing job in bringing it all together, including everyone that presented and attended across AHO contributed in a collective effort. The event had around 120 participants on day one. Looking forward to next year’s event!
