A Sector Capability Grant from the Aboriginal Housing Office (AHO) is helping create stable jobs and build skills for a local Aboriginal Community Housing Provider (ACHP) on the far south coast.
Twofold Aboriginal Corporation (Twofold), based near Broadwater, received an AHO Sector Capability Grant in the 2023-24 financial year.
The grant provided Twofold with the opportunity to invest in staffing and to transition one existing role from part-time to full-time.
The new role is held by Sarah, who started at Twofold as a temporary office administrator.
Twofold co-CEO Elvis Amair said Sarah has made strong progress since becoming full-time.
“Sarah has grown significantly in confidence and capability.
“She is contributing at a more strategic level, bringing ideas to the table and helping shape the direction of the organisation.
“The journey has strengthened her leadership skills and ability to think strategically about future opportunities.”
Sarah said she is grateful for the opportunity and is learning every day.
AHO’s Sector Capability Grants provide up to $100,000 to ACHPs.
They are designed to support ACHP business growth and self-sustainability, including achieving or maintaining registration compliance.
These grants provide an opportunity for the Aboriginal housing sector to increase their capacity and capability.

Twofold Aboriginal Corporation is a not-for-profit organisation that began in 1979 when 40 acres of land was gifted to the community.
The land, known as Jigamy Farm, is named after the native weaving grass found in the area.
Today, Twofold manages more than 40 properties across the Bega Valley Shire.
